My partner and I live in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn which is one of the handful of NY cities piloting the new compost pick-up program. We cook about 4-5 times a week and tend to fill up a few bags of compost. To offset the smell, I'll put each bag in the freezer until the city picks it up (which happens every Monday and Thursday). What's most irritating for us is the lack of freezer space to accommodate the bags of compost we create throughout the week. That said, I'm willing to give up the freezer space if it means a smell-free apartment!
