I have a few noisy neighbors at work - loud discussions, a heavy phone voice, talks to self, etc. And I'm easily distractable - so the headphones are important but they allways are tangled up with the other cords and cables that tie my laptop into its network, power, and second screen.

My office is constantly filled with the deadening hum of the air circulation system. Its a constant background that I mostly notice when it shuts off as a time of blessed quiet. I'm not sure if this helps or hurts the ambient of noise but its definitely part of the landscape.
