A neat trick a friend showed me. Use Binder clips to manage cables. Considering most cables have larger ends than the cable itself, they can usually be held by a simple binder clip. I use this one for my Droid cable at my office. Rather than have it tied up or stowed away, I have easy access to it, within hands reach.
