It is a part of my daily life, well all in moderation, that conjures up reminiscing snapshots of friendships, places & memories. Whether it was a moment shared with colleagues before the start of a work day; the nightcap after a hearty meal at a restaurant; or just a hot beverage while meeting up with friends for a chat. Just as there are many reasons for a cup of coffee, there are numerous ways I like to have it, usually pressed for time during the working week it is often instant coffee granules. At times with friends, freshly ground beans ranging from the aromatic Brazilian ones (friends brought back for me after returning from their honeymoon) to the strong Arabica beans from Australia which i brought back after i finished up on a program there. Other times, when time is not of the essence a little indulgence with grounded beans from a French press if just for me.
So that perfect cup... is the one that brings, a smile of the good times shared with friends and bad times that were overcome. it consists of, 2 teaspoons of brown sugar (Muscovado preferably), ⅘ of the cup filled with the coffee freshly brewed, ⅕ full cream milk. But in South Africa i find it goes well with chilli biltong (Cured meat with spices and salt). A perfect combination just to give you a spring in your step...
