A fitted suit

This is a tuxedo that I bought knowing I would probably wear fewer than ten times. Yet I had no problem paying more for it than many similar things I rely on everyday. I'm pictured here wearing it, giving my best man's speech at my brother's wedding.
Everything about the buying process was different. I had to leave Austin to shop because my town isn't large enough for particular designers to have all their labels here. The sales process was more educational than transactional or relational. (How have styles, cut, materials and finish changed over time? What is the history of formal wear? The provenance of the materials?)
The tuxedo required a small measure of tailoring to personalize it to me, but the result is incredibly pleasant to wear.
