Van Life - Freedom on the Road
Submitted by Charlotte
Based on recent conversations and my own experience, I see a clear trend to more independent living and working, combined with an urge to the outdoors and more minimalistic living. (Especially in the Gen Y/ Millennials.) More and more people seem to be open for leaving the convenience of cities behind to gain more freedom by living on the road, travelling or working as digital nomads (including me). With the search for more independence comes a list of features the perfect car would need to be not just a vehicle, but a home, wherever you go. Apart from a decent amount of space and storage, everything that makes it more autarchical is a plus. Solar cells, a tiny garden in the back,... go crazy and make it your home - off the grit. However, no matter if you buy a sports car or an old VW bus, an autonomous driving car or an old-timer, I believe the key feature we're all looking for is more freedom and independence. We don't need more things in our life that require our attention and energy. In a world as complex as ours, we need products/ cars that support a simpler, clearer life and make room for the important things in life.
